The DODGER is back! Named for The Artful Dodger, the delightful pickpocket from the 1968 film ‘Oliver!’. I suspect that character steered me toward my lifelong love of the TOPPER! I first made this hat in 1990 – I’ve tweaked my original pattern and am DELIGHTED with the result!
Softly structured, the DODGER is boned (like a corset) at the top of the crown and the brim edge. The fabric is backed with horsehair to add body and the brim is 5 layers which gives structure – no one likes a floppy brim!
This Ontario and Maple Leaf Tartan DODGER (yes in Canada we have Provincial Tartans!) fits a 23 inch (58.5cm) head. The size can be adjusted up or down slightly but never fear if you are cranially endowed a custom size can be discussed.
